Jay-Z Ft. Lil Wayne - Brooklyn 2.0

aa
Jay-Z Ft. Lil Wayne - Brooklyn 2.0

Wayne said “Hello Brooklyn” was actually made for his delayed album, Tha Carter, Vol. 3. “It was produced by my homeboy Big D a long time ago,” he said. “Jay heard the song some type of way, and when he heard it, he said, ‘Ask the homie if I can get this.’ When I was asked the question, I told them it wasn’t even a question  he’s got it. Everybody in the world knows how I feel about Jay. … He’s the king, utmost respect.

Full Story @ MTV.com

Damn, rather had them sit down together in a studio and bang out a track. What are opinions on the song? Of course people will try to come up with who got the hotter verse as usual.

IM CONFUSED. IM FROM BROOKLYN. WHY IS WEZZY ON THIS. WHY DO JAY FEELS HE’S IN A SPOT TO HAVE TO SELL. HE IS FAR PASS THAT. THAT IS THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE BY ADDING WEZZY TO THIS ALBUM. BOTTOM LINE IS IM NOT FEELING THE SONG. NOT TOO CRAZY BOUT THE WHOLE ALBUM. HE HAVE SOME TRACKS ON THERE THAT IS GREAT. VERY GOOD. AND SOME THAT ARE VERY BAD “FOR JAY Z” BUT GOOD FOR ANY OTHER ARTIST. MAYBE HE’LL MAKE UP FOR IT WITH A REMIX WITH REAL RAPPERS FROM BROOKLYN. BIG UP MOS DEF.

18.

Sigh.

Track is Solid.
Now I can listen to LIL Wayne.
After the 1st comments he made about Hova “We don’t need him” thought that was pretty disrespectful. But now he said “Jay is the King” the whole time it was just all comp.
He is playing sides but w/e he knows what’s best for him. He is getting smarter. Instead of “I can’t feel my face” maybe they should come out with a album “The Carters”

this is crack!!! Jay-Z sounds above his apex and Wayne sounds fresh. I love the Beastie Boys sample 2. It sounds like Adrock. That really made the song great. Beat is old school I know Ive heard it before but I dont remeber where, reminds me of ol skool Masta Ace though. 9.9/10

24.

26.
T Taverniti wrote on October 26th, 2007 at 4:17 am

niggas hate.

wayne is an okay rapper but he is feeling himself way too much, and when you get a fan base so strong that they will support you no matter how much your music starts to fall off… example the diplomats and no wayne…

if wayne sing on ONE MORE MUTHAFUCKING song i’m gonna go crazy.
but atleast he didn’t use the tpain voice.

jay-z is always solid as usual.
the content of his songs is always on a higher level than the rest of these niggas. hov can talk to you on the track and make it sound hard. its all in his delivery.

27.
T Taverniti wrote on October 26th, 2007 at 4:20 am

i def feel you on that, about it being average.
but an average jay-z song is still leaps and bounds better than than most of the music currently out.
wayns killed this song for me, if he would have just rapped it would have been fine, but the nigga had to sing and shit.
it could have been good, but its average at best

2.5 out of 5 stars.

MAN THIS IS A SAD DAY ALL YALL SAID 50 WAS A CLOWN FOR FUCKING WITH DIDDY AND JAY ON A TRACK AFTER HE DISSED THEM. BUT NOW IT IS O.K. FOR HOMO THUG TO BE ON A TRACK WITH JAY. IT IS A DOUBLE STANDARD YALL HATE 50 AND LOVE HOMO THUG. ANYWAY IF YOU LISTENED TO JAY’S COMMENTS ON MTV.COM, THEN YOU KNOW HE SAID IT WAS NOT A COLABO CAUSE THEY WERE NOT IN THE STUDIO. TO ME IT SOUND LIKE JAY REALLY NOT FEELING THE HOMO THUG NIGGA AND PROBABLY WANTED THE TRACK CAUSE WAYNE NOT FROM BROOKLYN. AND LET HIM STAY ON THE HOOK CASUE IT BRING CONTROVERSY. JAY IS A OLD HEAD THERE IS KNOW WAY HE COULD FUCK WITH LIL HOMO THUG. THAT IS JUST BEING REAL NO MATTER WHERE YOU FROM MOST OLD HEADS DO NOT RESPECT THE WAY THE YOUNG NIGGA’S DISRESPECT AND THEN THINK AN APOLOGY MAKES IT ALL GOOD. BUT ABOUT THE SONG I LIKE JAY WHEN HE WAS WITH DAME HE SEEMED MORE FOCUSED. NOW IT JUST SOUNDS LIKE HE IS TRYING TO SHOW US HE STILL HAS IT, AND HE DOES BUT NOT LIKE HE DID. TO ME JAY IS LIKE M.J. LAST YEAR WITH THE BULLS BEFORE HE RETIRED. THERE IS REALLY NOTHING LEFT TO PROVE BUT HE JUST LOVE BEING IN THE GAME.

47.

Jay’s second verse was dope.

He probaly should’ve put DP3 on it except this.
But the song is still dope tho

TheHaterExposer wrote on October 26th, 2007 at 7:34 am

HATERS, PLEASE READ:

“Why is Lil Wayne on a track about Brooklyn?” - Hater

Well, the track is called “***HELLO*** Brooklyn”, so Wayne is on the hook describing Brooklyn from a visitor’s point of view.

“This doesn’t fit in with the movie or concept of the album” - Hater

The American Gangster, Frank Lucas, was from the South people, North Carolina to be exact. When Jay say the scene of him coming to New York, he thought that this track, already recorded by Wayne, would be a good fit.

“This doesn’t have an old school feel. I thought Jay was taking it back?” - Hater

This is a very old school beat. Beastie Boys I think. Have you ever heard of Old Southern Bass Music? Yeah, this fits it to the tee.

“They don’t like each other. Why would they do a song together?” - Hater

That is something the internet started. Wayne has mad love and respect for Jay. Yeah, he got a lil cocky in an interview, but he did apologize, so drop the bs. He has never came at Hov on wax and neither has Hov. Hov was actually close to signing the dude years back. Let that shit go man.

LIKE I SAID UNTIL I CAN GET A VALID REASON WHY HE WAS 23 YEARS OLD KISSING THAT MAN IN HIS MOUTH HE IS GAY TO ME. AND I DO NOT SUPPORT HOMO THUGS SO TO ME HE COULD SPIT FOR YEARS AND I WOULD NOT BUY OR LIKE HIS SHIT. YOU CAN SUPPORT THE GAYS IF YOU LIKE BUT I WAS NOT RAISED LIKE THAT AND I WILL NOT RAISE MY KIDS LIKE THAT TO SUIT EVERYONE WANTING TO BE POLITICLY CORRECT. This is a really good song, if u think about it its as if Jay plays as a Brooklynite and Wayne plays an outsider showing respect to Brooklyn, Im from BK (Flatbush) and Wayne is considered the best to these little kids around here and this was a big step for him but he may never be able to match Jay-Z lyrically, but he is a good rapper, only a few can handle Jay, like Nas, Mos Def, Black Thought, Emieniem, and I’ll throw in Ghostface and Raekwon (together) yo i’ve been sayin whatever about Jay for a while but he puts out great albums, his worse album(some say Blueprint 2, but that is a very lyrical album) is better than the majority of these(old and new) rappers albums. So Props to the King of Hip-Hop…. and i agree with whoever said Mos should have been on the track, peace and love yall

I wonder if Pac’s “To Live and Die in LA”, the girl was from LA.. because PAC wasnt

Get over the fact that Wayne made the song .. Im the furthest thing from a Wayne fan, but Putting Wayne on that song opened up a broader listening audience.

These lil knuckle heads dont know Jay’s resume, or Nas’, Or Rae’s, or Busta’s for that matter.

This song brings them to who their fav rapper (Wayne) got his everything from.

with that being said..NIGGER

Go to hiphopdx.com to hear “Success” feat. Nas. - That shit is… man it’s tight.

I don’t know, this album may be classic material. The critics loved it at the listening party.

‘Graduation’ got boring a week after it came out. This is about to be some REAL classic shit. Not just a good cd in a time of terrible hip hop. And that’s comming from a REAL Kanye fan.

“Young Hov the King” 1st he sonned wayne on the TI song,”Watch What U Say To Me” n destroys any potential trade of words between them jus like he did to Game on “Dear Summer” song. N now wayne on his album on a song called “Hello Brooklyn”. I wonder what his “bitchset” friends think about the track?

Hova verse was onpoint as usual. Lil Wayne held his own though. The beat wasn’t that hot. But the lyrics carry the song.

YungJae wrote on October 28th, 2007 at 6:46 pm

ehhh…does nothing for me…i think every verse gets stronger but i don’t think wayne should’ve been on a song called “brooklyn”. I would’ve rather heard him on pray or the no hook joint. This should’ve been a remix or a throw away track.

I thought Lil Flame wuz dissin’ Jay not even a year ago. Now Jay Z is the king? Jay Z been the illest and will always be. Lil Flame a dickridin’ ass mufucka. Why do yall feel this cat? He said, “Get robbed like Horry.” His lyrics is much more simpler than what they was when Gillie Da Kid called him out on that ghostwritin’ shit. Listen to his lyrics. They simple and they whack. His voice is annoying. And to top this all off, let me remind yall he be kissin’ Baby on the lips. Let me remind yall that shit ain’t gangsta. Let me remind yall that’s some gay ass shit. That ain’t no mafia shit. Would you watch Soprano’s if Tony was kissin’ on Paulie? Hell nah, that some gay ass shit, and Lil Flame is gay, and if you like Lil Flame, you gay too.

I can’t knock Lil Flame hustle, but as an emcee, he ain’t nice. I wish someone would battle this mufucka and end his career, cause he can’t spit. Let’s keep it real.

Hate me now.
