Marion Jones, once a respectable Olympian, will serve a 6 month sentence in a federal prison on two counts of perjury. (1 count for lying to prosecutors in New York about a bank fraud case and 1 count for lying in the bay area about using performance-enhancing drugs) All athletes who admitted to using steroids or HGH (human growth hormone) were excused but those that lied to a federal jury, were made an example. The judge made sure to tell her that he was making her an example for all athletes. (paying attention Roger Clemens?) Why not just admit it and keep it moving? Jones leaves her 3 sons behind as she prepares to turn herself in. If she was sentenced to 6 months, Barry Bonds should be very afraid. How long will she actually serve?

Not sure how long she’ll serve but she shouldn’t have been sentenced. Why waste space we supposedly don’t have on some one who used illegal drugs (potentially only self detrimental) and isn’t a threat to society?
Actuall why do we still have the same prison system knowin it doesn’t rehabilitate? Prison is jus college for criminals and you need to worry bout the one’s who graduate!
p.s. If I had to bet i know she’ll do more than whitegirls gettin released 2 days into they’re sentence….lol!
6 months is not that long, i just hope she can get her life back on track and not over analyze the situation.

Well,shit happens its only six months if it was someone else then i’ll say yeah six months a longtime especially when you come out jail and you broke but she doesnt have to worry about that because its feds time not prison time plus when she comes out back to her normal life big deal……she gon to be chilling (she paid)

Although I do agree that having people take up space in jail on petty shit is a waste. However when people take certain kinds of steriods they have the potential to turn into Chris Benoits (wrestler) and become dangers to themselves and their families.

Marion passed the test back then because the steroids she took like “the cream” was designed to avoid detection. Marion was of course tested several times but they couldn’t find anything that’s why she didn’t get caught in 2000.

Yes lying is wrong, and under law, it’s a crime what she did. What Martha did. But in my opinion, the people that need to be in jail are child molestors,rapists,killers,terrorists,etc I feel like she should’ve got a fine/community service. I know as of right now, prisons are understaffed and over-populated. So why are people with petty ‘crimes’ or who are not a general threat to society? That doesn’t make sense and the justice system needs to be upgraded and revised. I mean look @ Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, one served like a day, and the other 3 weeks for crimes that are a threat to society. The ‘justice’ system is discriminatory based on gender, financial status,power,etc…
Like for instance cocaine drug dealers tend to get a lighter sentence than crack dealers, wonder why? Black people in general use crack, while whites mostly use cocaine. That’s discrimination. Or how male child molestors get more time than female child molestors? Or even R.Kelly, it took him this long to go to court now, even though the tape was about 5 years ago or so? Revision of the ‘justice’ system needs to be done in order for it to be really called the justice system.
