20mill to fight big show… This is why i said wrestling is one of the best sports as far as business. I dont watch the shit no more but you gotta respect the hustle. Only sport that comes on cable, network TV and has payperview events. Their fan base is huge, they dont end up on sportscenter everynight which is good because its less scrutiny. And the biggest thing, no one knows what their fav wrestler makes a year. Niggas know what Kobe make, Peyton Manning ect. Nobody knows what Hulk Hogan use to bring in lol.

@Pounce

Pro wrestling is NOT a sport man. Those guys are actors/stuntmen not sportsmen. It’s like saying Al Pacino is a gangster because of his movies.

I really don’t think Floyd will make that much money. I read an article on ESPN about Floyd where it was said that he would probably get 1 million and not 20. And that the 20m was more wrestling phoniness to hype up the event even more. That’s sounds more correct.

This is complete and utter bullshit.

Floyd and the WWE need to stop turning wrestling into an oddity attraction. Wrestling is a sport, dammit!

that was really awkward when he told them how much he was paid, the guy on the left was kinda embarassed, but damn 300 mil for his last fight with hatton…

10.
Mike wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 4:54 am

300??????????????? Who told you that lie?? Floyd got 25 for the De La hoya fight and around 15-20 for the Hatton fight.

smh @5
Yo man, wrestlings storylined which is tru. But it is a sport, its sports entertainment and those dudes r athletes as wel as actors. Narrowminded mothafuckaz like u dnt appreciate the harsh facts about being a wrestler. Being on the road everyday of the year away from their families and putting their bodies on the line for the fans.

14.
Pounce wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 10:38 am

What makes a sport a sport then? I agree with the acting part but its still a sport. They are still athletes on some level even if the outcome is decided before the match begins.

15.
Code wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 10:39 am

smh @5
yo man wrestling may be storylined but that doesnt mean these dudes are not athletes. They are sports athletes as well as entertainers. Ppl who stereotype wrestling as a fake sport need 2 understand the harsh truths about being a wrestler - being away from ur family for most the year and putting ur body on the line every night to put on a gud show. Ya’ll ignorant n need 2 appreciate that mothafuckas get hurt for real in that ring and there is more to it then just acting

16.
D-12 wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 11:20 am

@Code and @Pounce

SMH…How old are you guys 12 years old?? Y’all call me narrowminded because I don’t consider pro wrestling a sport. You have got to be kidding me. Funny when you say “may” be storylined. Please don’t tell me you’re a grown ass man who think wrestling is real fighting??

Look, Of course these guys work extremely hard to get into tremendous shape and they are very good at what they are doing. There’s no doubt it’s a tough job but it’s NOT a sport. These guys are actors/stuntmen.

Pro wrestling is scripted, choreographed and rehearsed over and over and over again to make it look good and entertaining, and they know the outcome before they step into the ring. It takes a lot of hard work between the wrestlers to pull off most of the stunts but it’s not real fighting they PRETEND to hit each other…you can’t call something like that a sport. If someone gets hurt then something went wrong and it’s an accident cause it was not intentional.

“What makes a sport a sport then? I agree with the acting part but its still a sport. They are still athletes on some level even if the outcome is decided before the match begins.”

the whole point of playing a sports is competing to decide who is better, if the outcome is already decided beforehand thats actually the exact opposite of a “sport”

18.
Pounce wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 12:38 pm

Sports are more of a business than competition now adays, so that whole competing to see who is better is for the birds. You don’t sell jerseys and get shoe endorsements because your better all the time. If that was the case then Tim Duncan would have more endorsement deals. Its marketing, it charisma its a multitude of things that have very little to do with competition.

Secondly, in basketball and football when they get hurt its normally an accident, so what is that? Or better yet they practice and rehearse in both those sports (unless its Iverson) and they do 360’s on fastbreaks ect for entertainment so is basketball not a sport anymore? What about taking a flop foul and acting or pretending like your hurt? Last point, the ref that was “possibly” helping people bet on games and impacted the outcome of games, if he knows who is going to win then the outcome is somewhat decided right?

Now I dont expect you all to have answers to all this nor do I expect you to even understand my point but you sound crazy at least to me if you think wrestling is not a sport. And no one has given me a definition of sport yet. Don’t worry i’ll wait…

IIGHT, I SAW THE ENTIRE SEGMENT AND USED 2 WATCH WRESTLING A LOT AS A KID. WRESTLING IS NOT A SPORT B/C THERE IS A PRE-DETERMINED CONCLUSION TO THE MATCH. THE PUNCHES AND KICKS ARE MEANT TO BE FAKE BUT MISTAKES DO HAPPEN. THE REST OF DAT SHIT IS REAL FOR THE MOST PART. U CAN’T FAKE GETTIN BODY SLAMMED. WHEN DAT CHAIR HITS U ACROSS UR BACK, IT HURTS. THESE GUYS (WELL ATLEAST THE POPULAR ONES) MAKE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS TO MILLIONS OF BUCKS. THEY DO GET INJURED, A LOT. THEY HAVE NO OFF SEASON…ITS PRETTY MUCH 24/7, 52 WEEKS, 360 DAYS. ITS A HARD PROFESSION THAT MANY PPL WOULDNT BE ABLE TO DO FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

jay wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 1:45 pm

ask one of your friends to fake punch you 30 times and fake kick you in the stomach 3o times so that it looks passable. im offended that people think its fake. sure its predetermined but they do rough each other up every fucking match.

the wrestlers that compete in the olympics are in a sport,The wrestlers that compete on tv are part of a staged play. @pounce
it’s ridiculous to consider wwe a sport the wrestlers don’t even hit each other.

BlackCity wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 2:29 pm

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for the laugh guys. I can’t believe people actually arguing over this stuff. Obviously some of you dudes are big WWE fans, but still it’s pretty amazing judging by some of the comments there are actually many people out there who take this seriously, and for some reason think this garbage is a sport. You are insane. No wonder WWE is popular when mothafuckas take this fake ish seriously. Hahahahahahaha!

Wayne wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 3:33 pm

LOL at getting defense about wrestling not being a sport. wrestling is fake. the bodyslaming is real but that’s the end. you can look at the punches and kicks and tell it’s real. i thought it was real as a kid but damn adults still thinking it’s legit, lol.

25.
Pounce wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I use to love wrestling as a kid lol. Who didnt… If you check my original post I was more impressed with Floyd getting 20 mill and made a statement that wrestling is the best sport for the reasons I already listed blah blah blah. Wrestling being a sport is a tangent argument that never anticipated cause I thought it was clearly known… i stand corrected

Watts brotha wrote on March 28th, 2008 at 4:46 pm

Why is this even a debate in the first place? This is something that kids talk about. pro wrestling is clearly not a sport everybody knows that. It’s only entertainment for God’s sake it’s a show. My 8 year old nephew thinks it’s a sport and to him it’s the coolest thing in the world. He thinks The Undertaker is the strongest man in the “whole wide world” LOL. But he’s a kid so that’s OK. I was the same when I was his age but I don’t know any adults who think pro wrestling is a sport. Never heard that before. Now amateur wrestling is a sport. A damn good sport too. A good friend of mine in high school was a really good amateur wrestler and also a boxer in. He almost made it to the Olympics as a wrestler.
