Where he is different than a typical brand is that he has an extreme amount of highly valuable influence. He could easily stand on the merits of what he is famous for, but he has shot to extreme levels of success due to his influence.”

Peter, you’re sort of right. But there’s rappers that were neck and neck with Jay when he was/before he was blowing up. DMX, Meth, Snoop Dogg, etc. None of them, except Snoop, applied themselves to do what Jay has. He had to work for that. Get creative, rape the system, if you will. Entertainment is cut-throat. So the nigga cut a few throats. Now he’s That Dude.
Ps. What Jay did to Dame (buy RocaWear from Dame for 30 mill, then sell it for 204 mill.) was strait business smart. I know its f*ed up and all, there’s homies and theres money. But appearently Jay “don’t do sh*t for the homies…Unless the homie’s gonna walk that stroll.”

I was telling my friends the samething the other day. If you reach the level of Jay Z and P. Diddy all this businnes opportunities fall between your laps so i dont understand why people always acting like they have done something great when Jay Z or P Diddy do such businnes ventures. Its normal for them. Trust me i was in the same position as Jay Z i will make more money in year than he is doing.

Michael Jackson got millions of loans just because of his name and he didn’t have a dime to pay it back. Jay started as a rapper - not a real estate magnet or with old money. His hustle was his lyrics which made his name ring bells. His moves now aren’t all based on his name, but he has the white man’s ear just based off the moves he’s made, which started with his name. I understand it’s hard for you to think on that level of money and how it moves, but don’t post stupid shit.
